Hi, My word crashes constantly and it shows this message. It happened suddenly today, and it crashes within a few minutes. Till, now it crashed sometimes but rarely after hours it was running.

Word for Office 365, Word 2016, Word 2019 There are only few visible differences between Word 2016 and Word 2019. All three versions have File tab All three versions have Tell me what you want to do.

Help in the ribbon Word 2019 has a new command, 3D Models, on the Insert tab. It is not found in Word 2016. Word for Office 365 is the version you have if you have Office 365 installed. With Office 365 you will automatically have the latest Word version so you can expect Word for Office 365 to look like Word 2019. However, you may have the Office version updated with a delay depending on which Channel you are on, i.e. How often your Office 365 is updated (Monthly Channel, Semi-Annual Channel). How to find more details about Word versions and version numbers We talk about e.g.

Word 2010 or Word 2016. E ach version of Word has a version number that used to be unique. However, with the launch of Office 2019 in October 2018, this is not exactly true anymore: Word 2016, Word 2019 and Word for Office 365 share the same number!

In the illustrations above for Word 2010, Word 2007 and Word 2003, you see a long number, e.g. 14.0.7116.5000 for Word 2010. The leftmost part of the long number (here 14) is the version number for the Word version. In case of Word 2013, Word 2016 and Word 2019, you must select File > Account category and click the About Word button to see the corresponding number.

It is shown in top of the dialog box that opens. Below are illustrations from Word 2016, Word 2019 and Word for Office 365.

As you can see, all three versions have number 16.0 which can lead to a lot of confusion. In this case, all the three Word versions from which I made the illustrations even have the entire long number in common.

Hi, I have upgraded to X8.2 (13302) and I then upgraded word for mac 16.9 (180116) The CWYW tab does not appear in the toolbar. I went to tools/templates and addins and the endnote cwyw is listed but greyed out. I then selected its check box and ok'd it. It still does not appear and if word is restarted it is now deselected again in templates and addins. The location given in templates and addins for the file for endnote is OK and it contains the file EndNote CWYW Word 2016.bundle. Can you tell me why this is not working please and how to fix it Thanks. Dear all, I think this message from Jason is a little misleading. It implies that Endnote has taken just a couple of weeks to respond to the latest release of Word.

In reality, Endnote has not been compatible with World since 16.8, and thus has been out of action for many since late November 2017. I appreciate the Beta version that became available at some point in the meantime and thus allowed many of us to get by, but the fact is that a stable updated version has taken almost two months to appear. This is not the first time that Endnote seems to have been surprised by a new release, and has left users suddenly without functioning software for a few weeks. It would be great if it were possible for Thomson Reuters to work more closely with MIcrosoft and anticipate changes.

Although I use various independent addon packages for various bits of software, I don't have any other software that gets caught on the hoof like Endnote does. Mark Roseman. Hello Mark Roseman, Microsoft did not release version 16.xx to the production track until January 18th: Previously, the production release was version 15.xx. At that time, the version 16.xx releases were a part of the Office Insider Program, which is essentially a beta release from Microsoft: We released our Beta for compatibility with the Office Insider version of Word in October of 2017: We (Clarivate Analytics) worked with Microsoft to release this Beta for the EndNote X8.2 Mac tools in Word 2016 version 16.xx. We were in no way 'surprised' by this release. When Microsoft released version 16.xx to the production track of Word, we needed a few business days to test against the public production release before we released our compatible update for X8 on January 24th.
